Before you switch
Use the self-hosted Agent for freelance or business work: Cloud Community and Homelab plans are personal/noncommercial only. Supply hardware or hosting, storage, backups and administration; retention depends on configured disk capacity. The Agent is GPL-3.0-or-later, but the bundled dashboard has a separate NCUL1 licence. A standalone Windows Agent local dashboard requires a paid plan; Linux local monitoring is the free route described here. Paid Cloud AI, enterprise notifications and management are not included. No paid LLM API is required for local monitoring; not a full Datadog APM/security replacement.
