What you can use it for

Turn scripts into spoken audio and narrate personal audiobook projects on your own computer.

  • Generate spoken narration locally without a recurring hosted generation quota.
  • Organise longer narration into chapters using the audiobook workflow.
Workflow coverage and comparison notes

Generate more personal, noncommercial narrated audio than a limited hosted ElevenLabs allowance without paying for additional generation credits, using local OmniVoice. This does not replace commercial usage rights, cloud convenience, every voice or the full ElevenLabs platform.

Before you switch

The default OmniVoice weights are CC-BY-NC: this recommendation covers personal, noncommercial narration, not paid client work, monetised content or a commercial ElevenLabs licence. Other engines have separate licences; commercial suitability is not established here. Model downloads, local runtime setup, compute and disk are required; CPU generation can be slow. Local inference is supported on Apple Silicon, Windows and Linux; Intel Macs need a separate backend. Optional Pro, hosted services and remote APIs can cost money. A v0.5.3 user reported an audiobook cache failure after powering off; v0.5.6 release notes claim a fix, which we have not reproduced. No guarantee of ElevenLabs voice quality or all-language parity.
