Before you switch
You pay for the server or existing hardware, storage, backups, bandwidth and maintenance. Basic log collection/search needs no paid model API. Cloud has a 14-day trial and then charges. SSO and granular RBAC are enterprise features, not part of the AGPL core; current self-hosted Enterprise allowance is 50 GB/day under separate terms. Configure access controls and keep deployments updated. This recommendation covers log search, not every Datadog workflow; migration and operations are your responsibility.
