Store cache entries, session data and counters in a Redis-compatible database on your own server.

What you can use it for

Store cache entries, session data and counters in a Redis-compatible database on your own server.

  • Read and write strings, hashes, counters and expiring entries through Redis-style clients.
  • Save snapshots and restore stored data after a server restart.
Workflow coverage and comparison notes

Self-hosted Redis-protocol cache, sessions and counters instead of paid managed database capacity. Existing managed services also offer free plans; this is an option for owning the storage workflow, not a claim that they require payment from day one. Does not replace managed operations or the Upstash HTTP API.

Before you switch

Self-hosting requires database administration, security and backups; hosting may cost money. Replaces native Redis TCP storage, not managed operations or Upstash HTTP/REST, QStash or Vector. Redis CE 7.4+ data files are not directly compatible; migration and production load were not tested.

Alternatives to these paid apps

Each comparison covers the workflow described above, rather than every paid feature.
