Workflow coverage and comparison notes

Scan paper, arrange scanned pages and run OCR to create searchable PDFs instead of Acrobat Pro for that task. Local software is free for individuals and businesses; scanner hardware is separate. Not the full Acrobat editor or signature suite.

Before you switch

Requires a compatible scanner/driver for paper capture and your own hardware and disk space. OCR accuracy depends on document quality and language. A user reports awkward duplex handling. This replaces scan-to-searchable-PDF tasks, not Acrobat’s existing-paragraph editing, secure redaction, e-signatures or complete conversion suite.
