What you can use it for

Mock HTTP responses, match request bodies and verify recorded calls, saving expectations for repeatable tests.

  • Define HTTP request and response expectations through a local API.
  • Verify recorded requests and export expectations for later test runs.
Workflow coverage and comparison notes

Run local HTTP API mocks for solo development and integration tests beyond WireMock Cloud’s 1,000 free calls/month. Checked GET/POST responses, JSON body matching, delayed errors and saved definitions. This is the local HTTP-mocking slice; it does not replace managed hosting, shared team editing, SSO, cloud integrations or every WireMock protocol and feature.

Before you switch

Developer server with Java/runtime setup, not a managed cloud service. Hands-on checks used Java 25.0.1 and --dev, which caps stored expectations and log entries at 1,000 each; these are configurable local resource limits. Compute, storage and any public hosting are yours. Browser UI, TLS interception, gRPC, load performance and managed team features were not tested.

Each comparison covers the workflow described above, rather than every paid feature.
