What you can use it for

Send low-volume transactional emails from an application through an API or SMTP relay.

  • Send application notifications through an API or SMTP relay.
  • Webhooks included within the free daily and monthly allowances.
Workflow coverage and comparison notes

A solo developer sends application notifications through the hosted Email API or SMTP relay. Excludes high-volume delivery, inbound parsing, dedicated IPs and marketing automation. An ongoing free route for small transactional workloads after the SendGrid trial expires. A trial of 100 emails/day for 60 days; lasting free plans were retired beginning 28 May 2025. Email API Essentials: 19.95 USD/month. Starting price; paid capacity and feature tiers differ from Mailjet Free. Not a claim of equivalent 50,000-email capacity.

Before you switch

Both daily and monthly sending limits apply; 6,000/month is not permission to send a 6,000-recipient blast. 1,000 stored contacts; extra seats and marketing automation are outside this recommendation. Mailjet logo remains on templates built with the Email Editor or Subscription Form Builder; removal is unavailable on Free and Starter. The official article does not impose that logo on every raw API email. Professional use only; account holder must be 18+. Account approval, sender setup and recipient filtering still apply. Neither provider guarantees inbox placement. API-based sending keeps message inputs in the developer’s application. This comparison does not promise campaign history retention, unlimited logs or a bulk-account export; these were not established. Hosted API/SMTP allowance is free; application hosting and any owned domain are separate. No dedicated IP or paid delivery add-on included.

Alternatives to these paid apps

Each comparison covers the workflow described above, rather than every paid feature.
