Run agent code and repository commands in isolated Firecracker microVMs on your own Linux machine.
Run agent code and repository commands in isolated Firecracker microVMs on your own Linux machine.
Own the agent microVM execution layer for repository cloning, dependency installation, shell commands and code/tests instead of boat’s managed sandbox subscription. Self-hosting adds substantial operational responsibility.
The qualifying free route is self-hosted E2B Runtime/Embed, not E2B Cloud credits or managed Enterprise BYOC. Operate a Linux machine with KVM and the bundled control-plane/storage services. Hardware or compatible cloud VM, CPU/RAM, storage, network, backups and operations are separate costs; LLM APIs are also separate. Embed is one machine by design; managed multi-machine BYOC is paid. Integration and migration are required; no promise of boat desktop, SSH/IP allocation, nested Docker or managed fleet parity. Customer usage evidence covers hosted E2B’s agent execution workflow, not our testing of the current self-hosted installation.
Each comparison covers the workflow described above, rather than every paid feature.
